Assignment

Find the following literary elements in Gilgamesh, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, OR in the full text sections of The Odyssey (not the modernized version). You only have to find each on in ONE piece of literature. Once you find an example of that literary element, create two columns. Copy out a quote in the first column (make sure you label which literary element is being shown. Then in the second column, just tell me what the quote means.

The old peasant's words to Faust show that he's a kind man who wishes the best for other people, even when other people aren't particularly nice to him.

 

#7 Characterization through the narrator's description

Baldur's twin brother Hondur was as different as well could be, for he had been born blind, and was ever quiet and sad, sitting alone and brooding.
(Myths of Norsemen, 168)
The narrator of the story just come out and tells us Hondur is sad instead of showing us.
