You will create a family tree that shows the relationships between major characters and symbols that will help you keep track of which person is associated with which story. The purpose here is to help you remember, so choose symbols that work to help you remember, but I have to understand the connection! The family tree can be done on paper or posterboard, but you have to follow a few requirements.

1. The relationships must be clear (who is married to whom, and who is the child of whom). You will have missing generations, and that's fine, but when I look at your poster, I'd better be able to recognize Esau's parents. If you notice on the sample below, there is a break between Judah and Boaz because I left out generations. It's acceptable to leave out names, so you don't have to list all the "begats."

2. For each major character, you must choose an object representing that character's life. A major character is defined as one who has a major role in one of the stories of Genesis or who is famous for being an outstanding example of something. Not only Noah, but also Lot, Hagar, Potiphar, and even Methuselah are all major characters. Kenan and Lamech are not. If you choose to include minor characters for some reason, don't create symbols for them. If you look at the sample, there are symbols for the major people (Ruth, Solomon) but minor characters included when they don't need to be (Shuah or Obed) don't have symbols.

3. Your project must be neat and attractive. Part of that means that the construction should be sturdy enough to survive being carried and then stacked in the back of the room.

Format: Handwritten or typing
Length/Size: Anything from standard typing paper to standard 22" by 28" poster board
Presentation: Neat, in pen or typed text, and sturdy (if it falls apart carrying it into the classroom or being set in a pile with other projects, it will lose points)
